The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

A perfect audiobook — the characters are very appealing and the plot flows along brightly through letters.  It's set just after World War II when people did communicate by mail.  And sometimes several letters a day were exchanged, so they could be very like dialogue.   Has there been an epistolary novel using email yet?

During the war, the Channel Islands were occupied by the Germans.  My question is, how is it that these islands, so close to France, have remained British since William picked them up on the way to England?  See map.  And another question, why do these two little islands have the same name as cows so well known in the US?
